A Lost Art

While working on projects with my kiddos today I was thinking about the art that I used to make. I started out as an Interior Design major in college which required me to learn watercolor. I love doing interior sketches and watercolors. These are some [really bad] photos of a series of interiors based on the different bedrooms of my childhood. I love these paintings. In a way they represent who I am and where I came from.

This was a final project for one of my classes. Most people think it is weird and Jonah thinks it is scary, but I like it. It was the first time I had a critique and the professor said something positive about my work.
Some commissioned work I did a couple of years ago. It was fun but a lot of pressure.

It makes me sad sometimes when I think about the things I love doing but can't anymore due to the fact that there are simply not enough hours in the day. That's okay--I know I will pick the paintbrush up again someday. I have more bedrooms to paint...

  1. I really like the paintings you do! I have one hanging in our den that you did for us when we got married! And the one you did of Katy and her papa is absolutely adorable! I wish I could do things like that...but I don't have ANY artistic talent! Thanks for posting and sharing your talent :-)

  2. Hmmm, I wonder if any of those paintings were in that giant portfolio you used to have to lug around UNT? I so remember those days....
