Mistreatment and Leisure

I have always liked to create window treatments using items such as safety pins, staples, hot glue, etc. The end result is not usually functional, but it is always cute and cheap. One day as I was strolling through the "home" neighborhood of blog world, I discovered something intriguing. Other people are doing the same thing I have been doing with their window treatments. Apparently, this practice has even been given a name: MISTREATMENTS. Genius!

This is a "mistreatment" I made for the bathroom yesterday. I had approximately 2 yards of fabric and 3 yards of ribbon. I used safety pins to create a pocket for the tension rod and the gathered look in the front. I then pinned the midpoint of the two ribbons at the top of the curtain and tied them in a bow at the bottom where it was gathered the most. That's pretty much all there is to it. Since I already had the fabric this mistreatment cost me about $5 (tension rod and ribbon). It looks like it is worth way more than that, don't you think? My kind of decorating!

So the "mistreatment" was one thing I did yesterday. Later on in the evening NuNu, Bo, and Caleb came over. The electricity went out for a while so we spent most of the time outside. It was beautiful! Here are some shots from our evening of leisure.

I'm over that now, but....I don't get it....because I never do the 1st read-through when it comes to following directions. Will try to re-read and re-read until I do! : ) I seriously need window mistreatments throughout the entire house!

And, of course beautiful children naturally go with a very talented Mommy! The pictures are great. So glad you get to enjoy them, Keelie. Blessings-Kathy

  7. Yes, all I need is a glue gun and some safety pins. If you are okay with stapling into the wall, you don't even need curtain rods...In 2 weeks I am FREE!
