These are homes from the historic Brooklyn Heights district. The neighborhood is so charming and beautiful. I am very glad we took the time to walk around here. 
This is what we saw right when we stepped off the subway at Coney Island. This is where the annual hot dog eating contest takes place every year on the 4th of July.

Coney Island was a neat side trip. It took us about an hour to get there by train. We stayed about that long, but were glad to have the pics and the memories.

This picture makes me think of the movie One Fine Day. This is where the kids show up and they are missing the boat full of their classmates.
This was our boat for the harbor Lights Cruise. It was nice except for when the man a few seats ahead of us puked over the side of the boat. His wife said that he "couldn't help it--he gets sea sick." So my only questions for this man would be #1. As a person who gets sea sick, why would you purchase a $30 ticket to be taken out to sea? and #2. Why would you eat a chili dog just before boarding ship? Yes, he did. I'm not usually this harsh, but these people made some poor decisions that affected a lot of people and they weren't very gracious about it.

This is The Dyckman Farmhouse. It was at the very top of Manhattan Island in an area called Inwood.

ReplyDelete+1 Lindee....The Farmhouse?!?!? Would absolutely love to have been there! However, I must say, were I going to NYC...the Statue of Liberty would be #1 on my list and the chances of me crying when seeing her...100%. I actually know of my ancestors that came through Ellis Island and what they would have felt seeing her...amazing. Simply amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe farmhouse was really cool. I was trying to hurry...so I didn't get to absorb all of the details. Yes, viewing the Statue of Liberty never gets old and is probably my all-time favorite thing--especially the first time I saw it. I think I did cry. I would love to schedule another trip and have you all join me. We'll call it the blog tour. And after that trip each person could host/guide a different city that they are partial to. OOOh! yeah.
