Announcements, Apologies, Answers, and Awards

Announcement #1-- I have been asked by Cheri at Its So Very Cheri to let you in on a big, no Huge, maybe GIANORMOUS is big enough, announcement. Be sure to MARK THIS DATE- Oct. 1. All I know, is that you need to head over to Its So Very Cheri on Oct 1 so you don’t miss out on this big event. She tells me she’s never done anything this big. So grab the button and place it on your side bar so you don’t forget, plus your friends will be glad you let them in on it too. I can't wait to find out what she's got up her sleeve!

Announcement #2--There is a fun giveaway going on over at my mother-in-law's fabulous blog To Everything a Season. She is giving away a super cute bag with some beautiful *bling* inside. Go check it out!

Apologies...for my son's clothing (or lack thereof). It has been brought to my attention that on many blog occasion I have shared a photo of my son wearing only his undergarments. The reason he is usually wearing only this is because every time he needs to go potty, which is a LOT, he feels the need to disrobe right down to his socks. Everything comes off. Since he goes A LOT he spends A LOT of time in this state. Sorry. I assure you we are working to resolve this matter asap.

Answer...about Cake Tips from previous post-- Kat from Heart to Heart (beautiful blog!)asked if when the frozen cake layers thaw does the cake become all mushy inside. Great Question, Kat. The answer is no. Once the cake thaws it is exactly like it would have been just a few hours after you pulled it out of the oven. So another tip I would give is, you can make up all kinds of cakes, cupcakes, etc., wrap in waxed paper then foil or put in zip lock bags, and freeze them. Then whenever you need a fancy dessert on the fly, all you have to do is make (or buy) the frosting. By the time you are done frosting the cake, it is almost thawed out. Doesn't take long.

Now I am going to pass this award on to some people whose blogs have inspired me in a special way (If you want to pass it on you can, but don't feel obligated):

Gina @ The Journaling Gina--Gina was the person who introduced me to the term "blog." The Journaling Gina is a neat place to visit often with her witty stories of child rearing and Biblical application for our daily lives. Gina--thank you for inspiring me to start my blog. It has turned into something I love so much...I miss you!

Kathy@ A Field Lily-- Kathy's was one of the first blogs I found when I was just getting started. I love it. I feel calm when I am there. Her writing style is so unique and the wisdom in her words is Christ given. She has the ability to pack tons of thought into very few words--a rare gift, truly. I learn from her and laugh with her as she tells stories of her precious family. Kudos, Kathy!

Chad @ Why I'm Here--I'm sure Chad is really going to appreciate this. "Over the Top" is not exactly the phrase I would use to describe his blog, but I want to give him an award. His blog is honest and introspective and I always leave there thinking of how I can be a better person. He is pretty darn funny, too. Chad, I have enjoyed getting to know you on a whole new level through your blog. Keep looking UP.

Wow. This is starting to get cheesy. Oh, well. Moving on...

Ruby Red Slippers @ Lions, Tigers, and Boys, Oh My!-- This blog caught my eye one day because the title had the word "red" in it. I clicked over and have been hooked ever since. The creative structure of her blog is so clever and inviting. I felt like I knew this person from the very first post I read. She is a dedicated mom, wife, follower of Christ, and Lions fan. Ruby Red Slippers, thank you for adding sparkle to my (and many others') days through your blog.

Kristina @ The Incredible Shrinking Woman--This girl is inspiring! She has a blog to document her weight loss journey and she is being successful in the journey. It is fun to read her updates and cheer her on. She talks about other interesting stuff, too. Kristina--I hope you continue sharing your journey with us all through your blog. People need to know that what you are doing is possible. Go Girl!

Kristi @ Kristi's Thoughts--At first Kristi was a little hesitant to start a blog but with some coaxing from friends she decided to start. Her posts are always interesting with beautiful, colorful photography. She is the most sincerely caring and interested-in-others person I know and her blog is a reflection of that. Plus she always leaves me comments. :) Kristi, it really is "all about you!'

  1. Thanks so much for answering my question. I always wondered about mushy cake. I guess I just had a bad experience with a wedding cake a year later and it wasn't at all edible.

Congratulations on your blog award and it really is over the top!

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  3. Ahh, now if the cake already has icing on it and then you freeze it--that could get mushy. I imagine the icing will seep moisture into the cake, therefore leaving it mushy. The trick about this trick is--freeze before icing.

  6. I love your blog! (Always have--it's just gotten even better lately...I wonder why? LOL) I laughed about the part explaining Jonah's pictures...because that's why there are almost never any pictures of Tucker on my blog! He always says "no pants, just Mowgli's" so all the pictures I have of him are pantless! I'm assuming some day he'll want to wear pants again, and then I'll make up for it :o)

  7. HAHAHA I won an award!!! I'm pretty sure this is the first thing I've won since high school (except for an awesome holiday towel in Aunt Di's blog give away!). I promise I will fill it out and forward it on but I dont think I know 6 other people who blog; especially none that are over the top. Its hard to get a community of bloggers going like yall have haha. Although, I do like reading your blogs; it lets me be somewhat connected. Forgive me if I do not use the clip art of the woman in an apron, I already take enough jabs for the fact that I blog. Ok this is getting to be way too long of an acceptance speach, they are about to cane me off stage. Thank you for thinking of me and always encouraging me. You are awesome!!!
