Procrastinator's Progress Recap

So, I decided to be brave and put myself "out there" last night. Okay it was my living room, not me, that I was putting "out there" but it was a tad bit uncomfortable, to say the least. I felt like I was sitting in a Design I critique. But then I got over it. I am so thankful for all of your ideas! I could not believe how much time some took to give very thoughtful, detailed, and all-around GREAT suggestions. I appreciated each and EVERY little bit of feedback.

One thing I realized I should have mentioned is that the love-seat and sofa in this room are RED! Many of you suggested painting either the chairs or table red and as much as I would LOVE to do that--it would actually be too much red. Wow--can't believe I typed that.

Anyway...I just wanted you to know that I have a game plan now. I used many of your suggestions to comprise this to-do list for the random living room wall:

1. Repaint chairs--black. I know! This is probably what everyone wanted to scream at me but I told you not to. Cause I already knew. I just wasn't ready to accept it yet. The blue paint was still tacky on my fingers as I typed the last post! I couldn't give up on it yet. It will be leaving us soon, though. So Kathy, tell your "friend of a friend" that she was right. I really wanted an unexpected pop of color in the room somewhere but this was not the correct way to achieve that.

2. Paint Table--black. I will distress the table and chairs to match. Checkerboard is going to "make" this whole area. I just know it.

3. Possibly will tea stain the zebra fabric if test area looks good.

4. Add small {blue} pillows to chairs. That will provide the color "pop" I was looking for.

5. I will take all wall items down and re-work. Star will most likely be moving to another wall in the room. I am fairly certain we will have b&w photos on the wall.

In addition to getting a game plan, something else monumental happened last night. I was forced to confront my decor and claim a style that I had not been ready to commit admit to until now. Country. Someone said the chairs weren't as "countryish" as the rest of the area (and they were absolutely correct) but I gasped. My house is COUNTRY? What!? And then I realized that yes, this home does a have a country vibe. A fresh pile of cow poop sits less than 10 steps from my back door. YES! Heavens to Betsy. This is a country house. There's no denying it, no fighting it. Let's refer to it as "The New Country" though, mmm-kay? ;)

I am excited about this mini design challenge and that means it will probably get done quickly! I have also been inspired to rework some of the other areas in the living room to make it more cohesive. I will show you everything when I am done. Thanks again for all your help!

  3. Yeh, my friend of a friend had NO idea you already had so much red in your house already. You're right. That never would've worked. : ) I love what you concluded on what now needs to be done. It will look beautiful, and we hope there will be a follow-up photo!

  4. Welcome to the world of country. I can't believe you didn't know that's what you were! I think painting the chairs and table black is the way to go. Since those pieces don't have a lot of weight to them for that wall it will give the appearance of something weighter to balance the room some. Look at me...talkin' all decorator.

Hope you have fun getting it all together!

    Love ya!

  7. Keelie, I know your room is going to be beautiful. (already is, but. . .you know what I mean.)

    The Pumpkin Crunch was good.

Now, I have another question that needs answering tonight.(if possible)
Do you know how many average size popcorn balls your recipe makes.
    Thank you!

  8. I think that was a very brave thing to do! Putting yourself out there is always a little shaky!

But advice knocks the ole noggin around a bit and gets the idea flowing, you know!

  9. Keelie, Thank you for getting back to me. You didn't have to apologize. You weren't late answering me. I took some cold medicine last night, went to sleep, then woke up in the wee hours, and got them made! Thank you, again!
Have a great Friday and weekend!

  12. Country is good! lol I love your new design ideas and totally understand when you put stuff together, stand back expecting to be delighted, only to discover something is off. It happens to all of us. I think sometimes we have to go through different ideas before we find something that works. Can't wait to see the new ideas put in place!
