O Christmas Tree

Hello there, my friends. I hope that you have all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! You should be sufficiently stuffed, have some shopping under your belt, and at least pulling out the Christmas decorations by now!

I guess I thought that most of us would have our trees up at some point this week. Whenever you do, please link up below so that we can see it! Or if you have seen some cool ideas for trees, share those too. I am still needing a little inspiration. My tree is up but nothing's on it yet. I am about to work on it tonight.

For now I am going to share two Christmas tree crafts that I did MacGyver style {with stuff laying around the house} And hopefully I will get some pics of my actual tree up later this week.

The first idea I got from Robin@ All Things Heart and Home. She shared a great idea for Fabric Scrap Trees. The only adjustments I made were that I used a cardboard coat hanger rod instead of a dowel and an empty ribbon roll to hold it. Not that a dowel and stand would be too expensive at the craft store, but I just didn't want to leave the comfort of my home {and pjs}. Thanks, Robin, for the super cute idea! Go see hers--they are actually finished and beautiful!

And here is the other tree I made:

Burlap Scrap Tree

Materials:
burlap
posterboard
scissors
hot glue

First I made a cone out of posterboard. You could use any kind of stiff paper..probably even cardstock or scrapbook paper. Then I glued little strips of burlap together at the ends to make a loop. I started at the bottom and glued the loops to the tree over lapping them all the way to the top. I tried to stagger them. That was pretty much it.

Ho! Ho! Ho!

  1. I am retarded. And annoyed at myself. I made a wreath for this last week and didn't post it to the McLinkey. D'oh. Like I said. Argggh.

  4. I so want you to come write Emmanuel on my white board! (When we build - a big blackboard in my kitchen is a must!) - My mom used to make Hershey Kiss trees with tree-shaped styrafoam - using pins and thin ribbon for little boys to put on. A teacher favorite! I love your burlap ideas!

  10. Those burlap trees are DARLING! Love them. I made some that are wrapped around triangle tree forms -- but mine and yours together would be darling. I might have to make some of those soon! Great job! I am going to feature this on my Friday Favorites :)
