WCJD (What "Can" Jesus Do?)

This picture was taken in October 2007 as volunteers sorted through the thousands of canned goods that had been donated by members of the community during The Mission's inaugural ministerial venture--Feed the Need. An actual food pantry was but a glimmer in the eye of the organization at this point. Canned goods were kept in the storage unit of a local church and food was distributed door to door periodically throughout the year.

Since then, so much has happened with The Mission. I would love to go into great detail, (and one summer day in the near future I will) but it can all be summed up with one word: GOD.

The GISD has generously allowed The Mission to use an unoccupied facility to house both a food pantry and clothing distribution center--free of charge. The two are open to the public for one hour on the third Saturday of each month. On the first Saturday 3 or 4 families came. This past weekend there were 45 families.

Some will say that a lot of the people who come to receive clothing and food don't really need it. Indeed, this may be the case--I don't know. But honestly, that doesn't matter. If a relationship is forged by giving freely to a person who doesn't really deserve it and that relationship serves to make an eternal difference in the undeserving person's life, isn't that kind of like what Jesus did for me?

No, that's exactly what He did for me.
